Stop Messing Up Classics
While digging around music, I came across a cover of the Prince song “I Will Die For You” by Colin Munroe. To me, this song is a song that only the original artist could pull off. Seriously, listen to the original and think to yourself who else on the planet could replicate the performance or better. NO ONE. I think theres a reason why the only songs I have of Colin Munroe are features on hooks of B rated rappers.

On weekends I usually work at 6 in the AM which is cool because I can use the afternoon to just chill out. The downside of this is that I have a REALLY hard time waking up. My remedy? All-nighters. How do I do it? My secret is Xbox, Tivo, energy drinks, and music. I usually listen to electronic music because of the obvious. Let me share a couple with you.

Lose It
Todays song comes from DJ/Producer/Allido Records Founder Mark Ronson. While the Brit may not be a household name, he’s one of hip-hops BEST producers. His record label has Wale and Rhymefest as their headline hip-hop artists. He has also done a lot of work with crazy Amy Winehouse.
The song “Lose It (In the end)” is the second single off his upcoming album “Record Collection.” It features the timeless Ghostface Killah over another original beat by Ronson. The beat is definitely fun and I don’t think there are many rappers who could make it work. The album is set to release in the U.S. October 5.

Today was the official release date of Baron Davis’ Doom collection from Li-Ning in the US. To launch it, he visited the Champs Sports store at the South Bay Galleria. You can look at his stuff at http://www.li-ningusa.com/basketball/ . Tayshaun Prince was also there, but he wasn’t signing stuff.
I wasn’t thinking too much because the only thing I brought for him to sign was my Clippers shirt that I was wearing. They gave a coupon for his gear so obviously I obliged. I got me Black/Red BD Doom shoes, with a matching Beardman T.

Clippers Getting New Jerseys
The Los Angeles Clippers upcoming season is the launching of what many hope to be a new era in Clipper Nation. Blake Griffin, who missed his entire rookie season is making his debut. New coach Vinny del Negro is changing the boring old-school style of Dumbleavy to a more uptempo one. If those changes aren’t enough to rid the stench of Clipper seasons passed, they are expected to be unveiling new jerseys soon.

California Gurls
So Katy Perry has this uber popular single out right now featuring Snoop Dogg called California Gurls. It’s a very poppy song. While that song really is not my style, I found this remix from Majestyy.
While it doesn’t have the contributions of Snoop, it’s more pleasing to my ear. It’s a simple remix: slowed down vocals over an old, slower sample. I’m not sure what the original sample is, but I know that it features the same one as the sexed up song “Romeo and Juliet” by Silk E. Fyne.
